Inspiration

A warm welcome to you from Crows Chase Cottage. As the weekend comes to a close, I wanted to share a few inspirational images from our gardens. Our weather has been a mix of heat, sun, and heavy downpours. My new garden pond is thriving due to the mix of sun and rain. The water has finally cleared after adding aquatic plants. Tadpoles are growing nicely, along with water beetles, miniature invertebrates, and snails.

We built this small water garden pond to be a beneficial habitat for wildlife but it is also a wonderful area for meditation. Being in nature supports my creativity and is amazingly therapeutic. We are blessed with a large variety of wildlife here at Crows Chase. Of course we feed the crows and songbirds daily. Even the chickens and guineas from a neighboring farm hang out in our gardens during the day. Not only do they clean up all of the fallen bird seed, they also snack on those nuisance bugs that are bad for our plants. Sadly my crows were being extremely camera shy this weekend and I could only get a photo of the empty feeding pedestal 😂
Opportunities for lovely photography can be found anywhere, not just in a rural landscape. Having lived in urban areas also, I would stop and study tiny areas of green, such as a small tree and the grass around it. A small stand of weeds or flowers. All of these areas can contain bugs, butterflies, birds, lovely blooms, etc. Taking a quick photo for future reference, or being able to enjoy something natural for a few moments can work wonders to start that creative process. Even carrying a small journal for poetic thoughts can be beneficial for not only writers but painters as well. So as the week kicks off and we are feeling overwhelmed or struggling for new artistic ideas, take a few extra minutes, slow down and notice those small obscure areas that are normally just passed by. It is my hope that you can find a moment this week to absorb creativity into your soul. With kindest regards, from Crows Chase Cottage.
